This event was hosted by the above club and took place at Clarence Park Lido, Milner Avenue, Bury, Lancs on Sunday 24/06/01. The weather was fine and there was a reasonable turn-out on the day. Various clubs attended and there was a nice selection of boats on display. A course had been layed for anyone who wished to negotiate it and the 'fast electric boys' from Bury club put on a couple of racing displays throughout the day.
Facilities were excellent with the club house and kitchen being open all day. Sausage and bacn balm cakes were available as well as tea and coffee etc.
With the weather being fine many visitors took the opportunity to just sit in the sun and enjoy the day. Of course there was the usual banter which goes on between fellow modellers who haven't seen each other for a while. Some photos from the day are shown below.

Southport Model Air Show and Boat Display 2001
Held over the weekend 30/06/01-01/07/01, this event was on Southport beach (next to the pier). It was organised by Southport Model Aero Club with the boat displays being co-ordinated by the Ribble Model Boat Club.
This was a new venture for our club and we didn't know quite what to expect. However, the event was quite well organised and we were to display in a large marquee with the other boat clubs. These were Ribble MBC, Southport MBC and Blackpool & Fylde MBC. Tables were provided and Ribble MBC brought their portable pool so that people could sail. Between the four clubs there were over a hundred boats on display. A very good turn-out I think.
The weather was fine but a bit blustery (this did not deter the model aero guys from flying though!). There was an excellent attendance by the public with both days being extremely busy. We even managed to interest a couple of possible new members. All in all an enjoyable show which we will attend again next year if asked. Below are some photos from the show.
