Ellesmere Port Model Boat Convention

This event is held at the Ellesmere Port Boat Museum which is located on South Pier Rd, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire (junction 9 - M53).  The show has been running for many years now and is probably the biggest dedicated model boat show in the north west of England.  As usual, our club will have a stand at the show and we will have a variety of our members' model boats on display.

The show is a two day event held over the August Bank Holiday (26/27th Aug. this year).  Attractions include: club stands, trade stands, free sailing and admission to the boat museum itself.  This show is always well attended by visitors from all over the north west and sometimes even further afield.  The model boats sailing on the water are always a great attraction and this is complimented by the commentary of Max Hundleby (pictured right) who provides some information about the various  models as they sail past.  Max is a member of our club and is an accomplished model boat builder himself.

Southport Model Boat Show (2001) in aid of the RNLI

This event takes place on the marine lake (near the fairground) at Southport, which is situated in the north west of England.  As a thriving seaside town it attracts many visitors throughout the year.  The show, which is in mid June every year, is held  over two days, Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday is for any type of boat and Sunday is for lifeboats only.  Although only a small show it attracts quite a few model boat exhibitors and also one or two traders.  There is static competition and free sailing on the lake.  Free parking is provided for exhibitors and there is plenty for the family to do during the day.  Below are a number of pictures from this years show which attracted a variety of models on both Saturday and Sunday.
